Braids & styling braids
Traditional box braids for protective styling, plus single, French, and Dutch braids for everyday looks and events.
What I offer
Traditional Box Braids — Consult
Classic three-strand box braids with hair extensions woven in. Long-lasting and versatile. Pricing varies significantly by length, size, and density — quoted at consultation.
Single Braids — from $45
Individual braids done on your natural hair. Simple, neat, and a clean everyday look.
French Braid — from $35
Classic French braid — one or two, your choice. Sleek and elevated. Great for workouts, events, or just keeping hair out of your face.
Dutch Braid — from $40
Inverted French braid that sits on top of the hair, giving it that “raised” sculpted look. Popular for both edgy and athletic styling.
Single, French, and Dutch braids are styling services on your natural hair — quick turnaround. Box braids are a multi-hour protective style; please book a free consultation so we can quote and schedule properly.
What to expect
Free consultation
We talk through length, thickness, and style. I’ll quote your specific look, time required, and what to bring or buy.
Hair prep
Clean, detangled hair on the day of appointment. I’ll send you specific prep instructions when we book.
The install
Section by section. Box braids are time-intensive — plan for several hours. We’ll take breaks; bring a snack and something to do.
Finish & care
I’ll show you how to wrap your braids at night, what products to avoid, and when to come back for refresh or removal.
Keep your braids looking fresh
- Wrap at night. Silk or satin scarf, or sleep on a silk pillowcase. Prevents frizz and lint.
- Moisturize the scalp. Light oil or scalp spray a few times a week. Keeps your natural hair healthy underneath.
- Don’t over-wash. A diluted shampoo applied to the scalp every 1–2 weeks is plenty for box braids.
- Skip the heavy products. Heavy gels and waxes cause buildup that’s hard to rinse out of braids.
- Don’t leave box braids in too long. 6–8 weeks max. Past that, knotting and tension at the roots becomes a problem.
Braids questions
How long do box braids take?
Anywhere from 4 to 8+ hours depending on length, size, and density. We’ll quote total time at consultation so you know what to plan for.
Do you provide the hair extensions for box braids?
We’ll discuss at consultation. Sometimes I provide; sometimes I’ll recommend a specific brand and length for you to buy. Depends on the look you’re going for.
Can I get a French or Dutch braid as a quick service?
Yes — these are 30–45 minute services and great for events, workouts, or just having someone else do it. Book like any other appointment.
How long do box braids last?
6–8 weeks with proper care. After that, take them out — leaving them in longer causes tension and damage at the roots.
Do you offer take-down?
Yes, quoted separately. Most clients prefer to come back for take-down so we can also do a deep condition and assessment underneath.
